Welcome to Nancy Helmer Designs. When you look at my jewelry, you’ll see I love glitz and glamour. That love shows in my jewelry design style – big, bold, and beautiful!  My biggest no-no is cookie cutter fashion. When I create jewelry it is one of a kind wearable art.  Occasionally though, I will do a limited edition series.

Minerals and stones used in my designs come from merchants around the world. I only buy quality materials from known and trusted sources. I use only the finest materials.

When in the studio, time is meaningless as sterling silver, minerals, and semi-precious stones become wearable art.  Often I will just sit and gaze at a dish of beautiful beads, and then suddenly inspiration hits me. I work furiously to create the design and make up the piece.

Every February, you’ll find me at what touted as  the world’s largest wholesale jewelry show in Tucson.  I spend several days going from vendor to vendor just looking and thinking. (By the way, it seems the entire city of Tucson is a huge gem show. Every free space has a stone merchant setting up shop!)

Then, I start my serious shopping. How a stone speaks to me helps to make a  selection. It could be the  color, shape, or an inspirational idea from the stone. From the stone’s “message” comes the design.

There is a thrill for me in finding gem materials that speak to me, and an even bigger thrill in putting them into an object of beauty that I enjoy making and someone else enjoys wearing.  Please tell me what you think about my pieces.
